Memories are made of exciting encounters. Enjoying a spectacular panoramic view while over Lake Zurich is an experience that enthralled many following the construction of an aerial lift known as the Landibahn in 1939 and the later construction of a gondola lift in 1959 for the International Garden Festival. And now the Zürcher Kantonalbank is set to recreate this magical experience with the temporary installation of an aerial ropeway across Lake Zurich. Working in the capacity of a provider of general planning services, EBP is currently at work on the planning for the aerial lift.

The Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB) will be celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2020. Ever since 1870, the bank has been a mainstay of cantonal life and prosperity. To mark the occasion, the bank has organized a series of special anniversary activities that encompass various projects, the main project being the construction of a temporary aerial ropeway across Lake Zurich between the city districts of Mythenquai and Zürichhorn. The ropeway is to remain in operation for a period of 5 years, after which it is to be dismantled. The ropeway’s opening is set to take place in 2020 so as to correspond with the ZKB’s anniversary.

As a provider of general engineering services, EBP has been commissioned by the ZKB to complete the planning for the aerial ropeway. The scope of this assignment includes the successful completion of all statutory procedures that are necessary to gain approval for the project. Once approval has been obtained, EBP will oversee the realization of this unique project. In addition to leading the planning team, EBP will provide services in the area of civil engineering, structural engineering, site supply and disposal, roof and façade construction, fire protection, building systems engineering, environmental impact assessment and transportation. Together with our partners at Vetter Schmid Architekten (architecture), Garaventa Lift (ropeway engineering) and other providers of specialist services, we constitute a strong and comprehensive general planning team.
